Upper School Students Engage with Presentation on Freedom from Chemical Dependency

As part of our health education efforts focusing on freedom from chemical dependency, a prevention specialist from Prevention Solutions within the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation visited campus on Tuesday, January 30 to speak with Upper School students.

An informative general presentation for all Upper School students was followed by smaller, break-out discussion groups for Grade 8 students. The specialist presented information on the physiological and psychological effects of various drugs, and provided a forum for discussing social, cultural, and personal issues that relate to the choices people make. She also shared some of her personal experiences with addiction and healthy recovery. It was an insightful presentation that engaged Upper School students in meaningful discussion.

Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers prevention and recovery solutions nationwide and across the entire continuum of care for youth and adults. Prevention Solutions provides alcohol, nicotine, and other drug education to schools and communities around the world.
